Dr. Aref F. Husseni

Aref F. Husseini stands as a multi-faceted luminary with accomplishments spanning the realms of engineering, physics, literature, and innovation. Born in the city of Jerusalem, Husseini’s journey is a testament to his indomitable spirit and commitment to making a lasting impact.

An accomplished Electronic Misprocessing Engineer and Physicist, Dr. Husseini’s career traverses various industrial and educational domains. His roles as a Developer, Researcher, Entrepreneur, and Leader have left an indelible mark on these sectors, propelling him into the forefront of successful institutional establishments.

 

In 2003, Aref embarked on a transformative mission by founding the Al-Nayzak Organization for Supportive Education and Scientific Innovation. A beacon of hope for Palestinian youth, this organization has forged vital partnerships to empower generations through education and innovation. The accolades garnered by Al-Nayzak are a testament to its effectiveness, including the prestigious Schwab Award for Social Entrepreneurship at the World Economic Forum (WEF) 2023, the Abdalaziz Shachshir Achievement/ Welfare Association Award, the Al-Fekr Al-Arabi (Arab Thoughts) Award in Dubai, and the Takreem Arab World Award in Cairo 2018.

 

Husseini’s impact continued to shine as he was recognized as one of the top 22 Arab Social Innovators by the Synrgous Foundation in the United States in 2008. In 2011, he ascended to the role of IEEE Subsection Vice Chairman, cementing his influence in the engineering community.

 

Not only a visionary leader but also an influential business figure, Husseini played a pivotal role in the Made in Arab World initiative, showcasing his commitment to fostering entrepreneurial ecosystems. His involvement extended to a local initiative, where he mentored budding startups, driving innovation and business growth. His active engagement in the Intel Arab World Competitions, including the Arab IoT & AI Challenge in Dubai, cemented his status as an essential contributor to technological progress.

The year 2013 marked another milestone, as Aref was handpicked to contribute to the establishment of the HCIE (Higher Council for Innovation and Excellence). His ongoing involvement as a board member, along with heading the central evaluation committee, underscores his dedication to nurturing startups through the National Innovation Fund investment.

 

Dr. Husseini’s volunteer work is equally commendable. He spearheaded the National Team for Official Technology Curricula Development at the Ministry of Education and was appointed as a member of the National Committee for Educational Reform 2014-2018.

 

In recognition of his acumen, Dr. Husseini was appointed as a member of the Board of Trustees at Al Najah National University in early 2019. Leading the Strategic Development Committee, he continues to steer the university towards greater excellence. Adding to his laurels, Husseini was an integral part of the Higher Education Council from 2016 to 2019, representing civil society alongside university presidents and private sector representatives.

 

Dr. Husseini’s commitment to knowledge is ceaseless. In 2019, he completed an AI-Artificial Intelligence course at the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), enriching his grasp of future business strategies. In 2020, his expertise led him to serve as a Senior Consultant with the Organization for Educational Cooperation (OEC), catalyzing the integration of the fourth industrial revolution into education and industries across 25 Global South Member states.

 

Beyond his technological prowess, Husseini’s creative soul finds expression in literature. His debut novel “Kafer Sabt” ,published in 2012 by the renowned Arab publishing house Dar Al-Shorok, was followed by the English translation Shabbat Goy in 2021. His literary journey continued with the release of “Haram Nusbi” (Relative Taboo) in 2017, in 2024 he published his third novel “Nus Ashkenazi”.
